ArtSpan:
The Journal Building
San Francisco l Project Management
Artspan, in partnership with the San Francisco Art Commission has developed and is expanding a program to create artist residency spaces in underutilized or derelict buildings around the city. The Journal Building was the flagship for this program which has become a prototype for others that have followed. Our team reviewed site conditions to insure functionality and safety for the artists, developing an occupancy checklist, a work scope and an improvements budget. We managed the build out working with building owner, the client and various consultants. As a result, a vibrant community of artists have had great success gaining greater exposure through frequent and well attended art openings and through the Artspan sponsored Open Studios program for three years running.
